Shoaib Malik, born on 1 February 1982, is a prominent Pakistani cricketer known for his career with the Pakistan national team and Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He served as Pakistan’s captain from 2007 to 2009. Malik made his One-Day International (ODI) debut in 1999 against the West Indies and his Test debut in 2001 against Bangladesh. In 2015, he retired from Test cricket to focus on the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Shoaib Malik was born into a middle-class Punjabi Rajput family in Sialkot, Punjab. His father, Malik Faqueer Hussain, ran a small shop selling local footwear and supported Shoaib’s cricket ambitions until his passing from throat cancer in 2006.
